Code of Conduct and Mentoring Agreement
In taking part in the IAB Ireland Mentoring Programme, you agree to adhere to the following code of conduct and commitments.
Code of Conduct
- A safe environment needs to be established so both can share experiences with 100% mutual trust and confidentiality regarding what is discussed.
- Mentors and mentees must respect each other’s privacy and maintain strict confidentiality of matters discussed during the mentoring relationship and after it concludes.
- Neither mentor or mentee should disclose any confidential business figures or strategies in the course of their meeting.
- Clear but agile boundaries - both the mentee and mentor agree upon the boundaries that they are comfortable with for the discussions but remain flexible on evolving them.
- The mentor will provide the structure, but the mentee is always in control - should either the mentor or mentee want to cease participation in the programme, then they are fully able to do so at any time by sending in their request to the IAB.
- The mentor empowers the mentee to make good decisions without actually deciding for the mentee.
- The focus of this project will be on mentoring rather than coaching.
- The mentoring programme is not to be used to solicit, induce or poach employees. This programme is not designed to assist mentees find employment opportunities within a mentor’s organisation.
- If there is a conflict of interest, the mentor should inform IAB Ireland immediately. Mentors should yield this power responsibly and not use the relationship for their own ends, such as to further their own career or financial interest.
- No bullying, abuse or misconduct on the part of the participants will be tolerated and failure to abide by this will result in termination from the programme.
Minimum commitments
- The programme runs for 6 months
- Initial Face to Face meeting to determine if the match is good in terms of mentees goals and mentors skills.
- 3 month minimum commitment from both the mentor and mentee.
- Both the mentor and mentee have the option to cease the programme after the first 3 months.
- 1 x session of at least 60 mins per month (face to face) or 45 mins (virtual) - 1 x email exchange per week, if required.
- The above communication is to be tracked in the google communication sheet that will be shared with you.
- Both the mentor and mentee will be required to complete a short survey pre and post the programme to enable IAB Ireland to measure the success of the programme - the feedback sought will be high level and not specific to your discussions.
