IAB Techlabs has developed Ads.txt to help prevent the sale of counterfeit and unauthorized impressions in programmatic transactions.
June 2017
Ads.txt is a simple, flexible, and secure method for publishers and distributors to declare who is authorized to sell their inventory, improving transparency for programmatic buyers.
Ads stands for Authorised Digital Sellers – the free to use tool aims to create greater transparency in the inventory supply chain, and give publishers control over their inventory in the market.

The public comment period for ads.txt ran up until June 19, 2017. Thereafter the IAB OpenRTB Working Group, which developed the tool, will evaluate the comments received. It will then make any necessary revisions, and release a final version.
As this develops further, we will keep IAB Ireland members up to date. This is a very positive step for the digital ecosystem that should benefit both advertisers and publishers and other stakeholders in the market.
