IAB Ireland is holding a series of Policy events focused on the General Data Protection Regulation in 2017 to assist IAB Ireland members to prepare for GDPR implementation on May 25th 2018.
Our second event of the 2017 series features the launch of IAB Europe’s GDPR Compliance Primer. The GDPR primer provides a practical guide to assist digital advertising companies in addressing the steps to be undertaken in respect of processing personal data.
It is likely that any data processed in the context of online advertising will be considered personal data under the GDPR since the GDPR definition of personal data is extremely broad. Furthermore the GDPR empowers Data Protection Authorities to impose extremely high fines on companies which may reach up to €20 million or up to 4% of a company’s annual turnover whichever is higher.
In launching the GDPR Primer, Matthias Matthiesen, Senior Manager, Privacy & Public Policy, IAB Europe will take IAB Ireland members through this practical step by step guide to compliance.
Jevan Neilan, Senior Associate, Mason Hayes & Curran will then provide an Irish legal firms perspective on preparing for the implementation of the GDPR and our event will end with a Q and A session which facilitates attendees addressing their specific questions in respect to the path to compliance.
Given the major impact that this regulation will have on our digital advertising industry we urge all IAB Ireland members to ensure that they are represented at this important event.
