IAB IRELAND RESPONSE TO ALLEGATIONS OF FRAUDULENT REPORTING OF DIGITAL BRANDED CONTENT

IAB Ireland Statement

15th November 2019

IAB Ireland is the trade organisation for digital advertising in Ireland and part of the global IAB network. IAB promotes the highest standards and best practice globally across its member companies from Publishers to Brands from Media agencies to Digital Service Vendors.

IAB Ireland’s Publisher Council has developed a Commercial Charter which highlights agreed standards across digital advertising trading including User Acceptance, Viewability, Non-Human traffic and Brand Safety. This charter is signed by IAB Ireland’s Publisher members.

Ad Fraud affects the entire online advertising industry. It deprives advertisers of reaching valid audiences and denies publishers revenues which they lose from the purchase of fraudulent inventory. IAB Ireland does not have a regulatory remit to investigate members’ business practices. However IAB Ireland and its board strongly condemns any fraudulent or misleading practices in our industry. Such dishonest practices are inherently wrong and devalue the good work and reputation of our trade organisation and our members.

The IAB Ireland board will review this issue at its forthcoming board meeting and will decide on any further action.
